We are happy to invite you to our FEM Netherlands Chapter event on June 3rd, 2025 , which will be held at Rosarium Amstelpark in Amsterdam and as always run by Hillbrook. Please register now
The topic of this FEM Event is Graduates & Mobility. We are therefore happy to have Erik van Beers as the main speaker for this event. Erik works as a coordinator at SOFI-expertise; a collaboration of 14 Dutch research Universities, where he supports their participants in solving complex issues in Global Mobility.
During our event, the following subjects will be discussed:
- The Dutch University system with focus on foreign students & Global Mobility – Introduction to the system, data analytics (e.g., costs, numbers of foreign students, competitiveness compared to other universities, how long students remain in NL, etc) and how can GM profit from working with universities & with (ex-) foreign students
- Explanation of the Dutch immigration rules to attract and retain foreign Students from abroad, including internships
- Explanation on possibilities to obtain the 30%-ruling for students who have studied in NL including recent case law.

Line-up speakers and subjects:
Erik van Beers is our main speaker for this event. Erik works as a coordinator at SOFI-expertise; a collaboration of 14 Dutch research Universities, where he supports their participants in solving complex issues in Global Mobility. He will introduce the University System with some data analytics (e.g., costs, numbers of foreign students, competitiveness compared to other universities, how long students remain in NL, etc) and share his thoughts on how GM can profit from working with universities and with (ex-) foreign students.
Gaby Patenaude of Booking.com (Early Careers Engagement Lead) will give insight into the Booking.com’s Program and collaboration with the Universities.
Bregje Wijsenbeek of Nuffic (manager Research Program Labour Market of Nuffic - the Dutch Organisation for Internationalization in Education Labour Market and Stay Rates) will give insight in, among other things, the chance that international students will stay and start working in The Netherlands.
Gwen Keller of Hillbrook will focus on the Dutch immigration rules to attract and retain foreig students from abroad, including internships.
